About Treatment
Bimatoprost ophthalmic solution 0.03% is a prescription treatment for eyelash hypotrichosis, the medical term for inadequate or insufficient eyelashes. It is intended to increase eyelash growth, including length, thickness, and darkness.
When prescribed for eyelash growth, the solution is applied once nightly to the skin along the upper eyelid margin at the base of the eyelashes using a sterile applicator. It should not be applied to the lower eyelid.
Changes develop gradually with consistent use. Applying more than the prescribed amount will not make eyelashes grow faster. If treatment is stopped, eyelashes are expected to gradually return toward their previous appearance.
Individual Evaluation
A telehealth consultation helps determine whether prescription treatment may be suitable or whether an eye examination or other evaluation should come first.
How It Works
Step 1
Choose a convenient appointment time for a private telehealth consultation.
Step 2
Discuss your goals, medical history, eye health, medications, and treatment questions.
Step 3
If treatment is appropriate, your provider will explain the prescription, application, precautions, and follow-up plan.
A consultation does not guarantee a prescription. Your provider may recommend an eye examination or other care when needed.
Treatment Safety
Prescription eyelash treatment is not appropriate for everyone. Your provider will review the potential benefits and risks with you before prescribing.
Remove contact lenses before application. They may generally be reinserted 15 minutes afterward. Follow the directions provided with your prescription and do not share applicators.
